About Us

Dr. Kimberley Chase, DVM

Dr. Chase first came to Apple Tree Animal Hospital in 1992, when she realized veterinary medicine was her passion.  She worked with Dr. Furness through high school and college.  His mentorship during that time fueled her love of medicine, grew her knowledge and showed her what being a compassionate veterinarian was about.  Dr. Chase attended Ross University of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2004.

After graduation she returned to New Hampshire to begin her career with Dr. Mara at Central NH Animal Care.  In 2008 Dr. Chase took a position with Banfield in Salem NH.  For the next 10 years she helped establish that hospital and developed management skills. In 2012 she was named national Chief of Staff and 2017 she was awarded the national Medical Quality award.  During these years of growth Dr. Chase's dream was to come back to her first love, Apple Tree Animal Hospital.

In 2018 Dr. Furness contacted Dr. Chase and kept a promise he made years ago, he was retiring and wanted her to take over his hospital.  In January 2019 Dr. Chase's dream came true and she came back home to Apple Tree Animal Hospital.  She resides in Warner NH with Marty and Larry, her two crazy labs and a wonderful husband.  Dr. Chase is passionate about providing high quality medicine and education for the community.

Dr. Carissa Smullen, DVM

Dr. Carissa Smullen graduated from Glascow University Veterinary School in Scotland in 2010. She has been working as a small animal practitioner in general practice since then. She studied acupuncture at Chi University in Reddick, Florida, and received her certification in 2014. If you are interested in using alternative therapies to help maintain your pet's well-being, please call our hospital to schedule a consult with her.
